David Asseo

David Asseo was a prominent figure in Turkish Judaism, serving as the 4th Chief Rabbi of the Republic of Turkey. His tenure as the spiritual leader of the Turkish Jewish community began in 1961, a position he held for over four decades. As the Hakham Bashi, Asseo played a crucial role in guiding the Jewish community in Turkey, providing spiritual guidance and oversight.

Asseo's long and dedicated service to the Turkish Jewish community came to an end with his passing in 2002.
