Hank Laventhol

American painter (1927–2001)

Hank Laventhol was a prominent American painter and master print maker, born in 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He pursued higher education at Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts, and later undertook postgraduate studies at Columbia University. Initially, Laventhol ventured into the business world in New York City, but at the age of 32, he made a significant career shift, relocating to Europe to further his artistic studies.

Laventhol's European sojourn lasted a decade, during which he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy, and eventually settled in Mallorca, Spain. His artistic talent garnered recognition through numerous solo exhibitions in prominent European cities, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. In the United States, his work was showcased in five solo exhibitions at the Bodley Gallery in New York City, as well as in other major US cities. Laventhol's prolific career spanned multiple continents, earning him a reputation as a skilled painter and print maker, until his passing in 2001.
