Piroska Hévizi

Piroska Hévizi was a multifaceted Hungarian artist, born in 1911 in Kolozsvár, who explored various creative fields, including painting, photography, and fashion design. Initially, she established herself as a skilled portrait photographer, laying the foundation for her future artistic endeavors. Her early career was marked by success, which eventually led her to transition into painting and design.

Hévizi's life took a dramatic turn as she survived the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp during World War II. This experience profoundly impacted her art, as she later created a series of expressionist works that reflected her wartime experiences. In 1986, her poignant artworks were showcased in the exhibition Mementó in Budapest, offering a deeply personal glimpse into her past. Today, her work is preserved in the collection of the Hungarian Jewish Museum and Archives in Budapest, serving as a testament to her enduring legacy as a Holocaust survivor and artist. She passed away in 1994, leaving behind a remarkable body of work.
